The Search for Someone to Save: A Defensive Case for the Priority of Secured Credit.Rizwaan Jameel Mokal - 2002 - Oxford Journal of Legal Studies 22 (4):687-728.
The priority of secured credit has repeatedly and famously been attacked for allowing the exploitation of certain types of unsecured creditor. It has also been blamed for creating inefficiencies. This paper examines these arguments specifically as applied to this jurisdiction, and using both theoretical analysis and recent empirical data, suggests none of them can be sustained. It is argued that security is unlikely to lead to the exploitation of involuntary, ‘uninformed’, or ‘unsophisticated’ creditors, since the perverse incentives it allegedly creates (...)

Guiding sustainable growth: The interplay between CEO trustworthiness, managerial ability, and green innovation.Muhammad Jameel Hussain, Umair Bin Yousaf, Muhammad Umar, Syed Tauseef Ali & Tian Gaoliang - forthcoming - Business Ethics, the Environment and Responsibility.
Amidst growing calls for environmentally sustainable practices, this study delves into the nuanced relationship between CEO trustworthiness, managerial ability, and green innovation. Departing from surface-level examinations, we propose that managerial ability serves as the link between CEO trustworthiness and green innovation initiatives. Moreover, we contend that the influence of CEO trustworthiness on managerial ability is accentuated under specific contextual conditions including higher social capital, crisis situations, and state-owned firms. Drawing on a comprehensive analysis of Chinese firms over 12 years, this (...)

Chief executive officer ability and corporate environmental sustainability information disclosure.Muhammad Jameel Hussain, Gaoliang Tian, Adnan Ashraf, Muhammad Kaleem Khan & Lu Ying - 2022 - Business Ethics, the Environment and Responsibility 32 (1):24-39.
This study explores the impact of CEO ability on corporate environmental sustainability information disclosure. We take samples from Chinese A-share listed companies from 2010 to 2019 and use the ordinary least squares as a baseline regression model to check the relationship between CEO ability and corporate environmental sustainability information disclosure. Our findings are robust to different corporate environmental sustainability information disclosure measures and CEO ability. We found a positive association between CEO ability and corporate environmental sustainability information disclosure; thus, firms (...)

Islamic ethics and commitment among Muslim nurses in Indonesia.Muhammad Ramadhan, Fouad Jameel Ibrahim Alazzawi, Md Zahidul Islam, Kosasih Kosasih, Supat Chupradit, K. Nurdin, Denok Sunarsi, Najim Z. Alshahrani & A. Heri Iswanto - 2022 - HTS Theological Studies 78 (4):1–6.
Ethical principles are among the topics that are widely emphasised in the Islamic society. Ethics is a set of values, do's and don'ts that can play an important role in the effective management of organisations. If employees of organisations, especially medical staff, are working in the atmosphere of Islamic ethics, they show functional behaviours in line with the goals and missions of organisation. Due to the direct relationship and treatment of nurses with recipients of medical services, nurses' behaviours have significant (...)

Background. Sport training has an impact on other sciences. Among these sciences is physiology, in which emerged to form what is called sports physiology. The recent development in the science of physical education is one of the important factors in measuring and determining the nature of athletes' physical, physiological and biochemical adaptations and responses. On the analogy between field experiments in economics and clinical trials in medicine.Judith Favereau - 2016 - Journal of Economic Methodology 23 (2):203-222.
Randomized experiments, as developed by Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, offer a novel, evidence-based approach to fighting poverty. This approach is original, in that it imports the methodology of clinical trials for application in development economics. This paper examines the analogy between J-PAL’s field experiments in development economics and randomized controlled trials in medicine. RCTs and randomized field experiments are commonly treated as identical, but such treatment neglects some of the major (...)

The miracle of microfinance? A 2016 ethical assessment.Eric Palmer - forthcoming - In Robert W. Kolb (ed.), The SAGE Encyclopedia of Business Ethics and Society: 2nd edition. Sage Publications.
This entry focuses upon the current state of microlending activity, and particularly for-profit activity, with ethical analysis of such lending, particularly as it pertains to prospects for poverty alleviation and development for the global poor. Several specific events have lately altered the characteristics of microlending and the general assessments of its prospects: most notably the collapse of the for-profit microfinance market in Andhra Pradesh late in 2010 and research previously pursued within the same state of India that would greatly reduce (...)
